‘The Europe Day’ Study trip to Brussels, May 7th – 14th 2006
This study trip is organised since 2005 for the SISEC students from the second year of study. Its aim is to improve our students’ understanding of the European culture, civilisation and diversity. The event is financed by the Jean Monnet Action of the European Commission throughout the funds granted to the 'Jean Monnet' European Centre of Excellence within the West University of Timisoara, Romania.

Discovery of the capital city of the European Union: the old downtown of the city, the European Institution, the museums, the Atomium, the NATO Headquarter, and the gourmand part of the city: Musée des Brasseurs Belges, Planète Chocolat, les gaufres (wafers) de Bruxelels, les spéculoos biscuits…

– Cultural visits of the most beautiful cities of Belgium: Bruges (the picturesque city, recognised as the 2002 European Cultural Capital; and the sweet heart of the Universe: the Chocolate Museum and more than 44 shops featuring the best Belgian chocolate), Leuven (the famous Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, founded in 1425, the oldest university of the Low Countries; the most impressive Town Hall, the great beguinages and the Stella Artois beer) and Antwerp (the diamond centre of the world; and the city of Peter Paul Rubens, the painter)
– Visits at the Belgian Parliament, the Brussels Town Hall and Palais de Justice (to be confirmed, events organised by Mr. Michel de MULDER, IPA Brabant)
– Short visit to Lille, France, the 2004 Cultural Capital of Europe, the place of one of the SISEC’s European partners: Université des Sciences et de Technologies de Lille
